Question. A serious one.

To all you people with one LJ account for your writings and another LJ account for all the other stuff. Or even if you just KNOW someone like this.
Why create a separate user for your writing?
Why do you feel the need to have two different users? What's the logic you have behind it?

I am asking this very seriously so I'm expecting serious answers please.

Hey! That is a good question. I guess it is to stop certain people from looking at stuff but at the same not restricting others.

For eg, I don't want my younger sister (who is not a LJ user but checks up on my blog from time to time) to look at the ( scandalous!) things I write. If I post my writings on my blog and make them Friends Only to stop my sister from looking at them, unfortunately others who are not my friends won't be able to read them.

Having a separate account/community solves that problem to some extent.

Also, some might like it because they prefer to organize it this way?

ehh i had a writing lj twice. I usually seperate it, although i didn't do it much with misosiru, i have fics here as well.... But the thing is that I did it before cause some people in my flist was not a fan of fictions or maybe slash and my first writing lj was friends only. Since I wanted to post them locked, I did not want to let in everyone who wanted to read my fics know my private life as well.... The second time I tried to do it to keep a track of my fics, but it didn't work out XD;;; And I'm bad with keeping two things ahahha. Better with one, but it gets so messy.

I'd originally created my fic account to maintain my dl comm, because I didn't want people friending me out of the blue just because I uploaded stuff. When I had writing to post, I decided to use the empty account as a fic journal because I didn't want my RL friends to be able to read my writing.
My fic journal didn't use to be linked to my main account at all, but now I just don't care... either about RL friends knowing that I write and being able to see what I write, or new people who can see that the fic journal is linked to my main account. My fics are not linked publicly to my main account though, just in case acquaintances or employers or family members (God forbid!) happen to stumble upon it for whatever reason.
unrelatedly, I did delete most of my crossposts at one point in time because I got uncomfortable with people reading my fic at all. :\

so i don't fics but doodles, but i get the point. and i wanted to create a separate account just for that but failed cause it would mean practically not updating my private lj *shot*
anyway, a different lj for fanworks would me mostly to organize things. to have that all in one place, with tags just for that etc and to keep private lj *private* from people concerned only in fics/doodles/downloads.

also hi, yes, i'm a stalkerXD see? a different lj would keep me away from your private entriesXD

I'm also wondering this, mainly because I constantly feel like I want to create a separate account for art. I want it to be somewhere where I don't feel like I'm pointlessly spamming people by updating, because if they care about my art they'll watch the art, and if they care about my life they'll watch the regular LJ. The problem is that no one would have a reason to read my regular posts, and I want attentionnnn XP

Hmm the main reason I created my fic lj was because I didn't want my friends to be bothered by whatever crap I could ever write ^^; (and I know some of them can be, that's why even when I mention about my fics, it's under a cut with 'fanfic lovers only' XD )
And I do believe there are enough crap/flailing/squealing/serious things(?) to read at my own lj XD

But now that I think about it (and read other comments), I realize I should have created another lj to post on DK comm because recently, people have been friending me and it's getting on my nerves (-_-)

On my 'F-list only' entry, someone even wrote "hihi. kinki kids fan here. stumbled upon your LJ because i was looking for the raw file of the 20091026 smap bistro with kinki kids on domotokyoudai. couldnt find it and im going crazy. so can you please paste the link here? Pls help thanks!!" ... WTH ?! Of course I deleted it, but seriously... (-_-)

I have this LJ for fandom and another (non-LJ) blog with RL identity. I suppose that counts? =) In the beginning it is simply to keep my fandom activity away from RL friends because very few of them 'get' my fandom, and even fewer would tolerate the slash fanfics I write. Now more importantly it is also because my RL blog is accessible to people linked to my school/workplace/organization, and I don't think what I do in fandom reflects well if any reader is to take it in professional perspective.

In conclusion, it's because I'm not 'out of the closet' with regards to fandom activity. Classic reason maybe? =D People who know me know about my fandom in the surface, and I blog about it to that extent, but keep the less 'safe' things within fandom.
